Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to and use of this website. Visiting a page, reading its content, or submitting a query means that you accept them. Do not continue to use the site if you disagree with any term.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website is not affiliated with a local, state, or federal agency. Neither it nor its advertising partners provides a service for credit decisions, employment screening, insurance eligibility, tenant screening, or another use regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Its purpose is to identify criminal-record resources in Newberry County and South Carolina. It is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no government connection. It does not keep official criminal records, retrieve them, conduct official checks, or submit documents for a user.

It identifies Newberry County custodians, including the sheriff's office, criminal courts, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division repository, and South Carolina Public Sex Offender Registry. It may also connect users to outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the site, you agree not to:

  • Use bots, scrapers, or other automated means against the pages
  • Violate a federal, South Carolina, or local law
  • Stalk, intimidate, harass, or threaten a person with information found here
  • Use the content for hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions
  • Attempt unauthorized access to systems or data
  • Interfere with site performance or another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information from this site or a linked tool may not be used to stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or discriminate against anyone. South Carolina imposes a specific rule on South Carolina Public Sex Offender Registry data. Under S.C. Code §23-3-510, using registry information to commit an offense against a registrant or household member adds criminal penalties. Registry access supports public safety awareness, not vigilante conduct or unlawful discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create credit reports, consumer reports, or background checks. Our advertising partners do not offer their tools here for job-applicant screening, rental review, insurance pricing, or credit evaluation. You agree that site or linked-tool information will not be used to:

  • Assess credit or establish an insurance premium
  • Make an employment decision
  • Evaluate a rental or housing application
  • Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other purpose governed by the FCRA

A use governed by the FCRA requires the proper official or FCRA-compliant process, not information from this site.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a Newberry County charge, conviction, warrant, or expungement rule applies to one person. Consult a licensed South Carolina attorney for that analysis.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are supplied "as is." We make no guarantee that:

  • A partner tool's results are complete or correct
  • Information is accurate, current, or complete at a particular time
  • The site will operate without delay or interruption
  • Pages contain no defect, bug, or security weakness

Criminal records change when charges are filed, dismissed, sealed, or expunged. Updates may lag. No statement here is an official statement from the Newberry County sheriff, a court, SLED, or another government body.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to sheriff pages, court portals, South Carolina agencies, legal aid organizations, and outside search services. We do not control those destinations and are not responsible for their content, availability, charges, or data practices. Review a destination's terms before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

Newberry County Criminal History or its content partners own the site's text, graphics, logos, and code. No one may copy, alter, distribute, or create a derivative work from that material without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for damages arising from site use, including reliance on information obtained here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from a claim, demand, or action arising from your site use or violation of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

South Carolina law governs these terms, including applicable consumer-protection law. Public-record access through the government sources described here is separately governed by the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act, S.C. Code Title 30, Chapter 4, and criminal-history dissemination duties appear in S.C. Code §§23-3-110 through 23-3-130. The state's criminal-offense classification chapter and probation, parole, and pardon chapter control their own subjects. Any dispute about use of this site must be brought in a court located in South Carolina.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms at any time. A revision becomes effective when posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

We may restrict or terminate site access at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one term is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in effect. The affected language will be limited or revised only as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be directed through the Contact page.
