Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that feature. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not retain or record those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email message as needed to answer it. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server automatically receives ordinary technical information about the visit:

- The referring site, when one is supplied
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them

Cookies and Analytics

No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The published material explains where Newberry County records are kept and how to reach the sheriff, the criminal courts, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division repository, and the South Carolina Public Sex Offender Registry. This is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal histories.

Code §30-2-50 restricts commercial solicitation using public records, while §§23-3-110 through 23-3-130 govern SLED criminal identification and dissemination duties. Subject to the law that applies, you may:
- Request deletion of eligible personal data
- Ask what personal information is held about you
- Object to certain forms of processing where a right applies
